Hello and welcome to the Penny & Rose website.
I'm Michele, the face behind the scenes at Penny & Rose. I am a mum to three adult daughters and a Nana to one little granddaughter.
Since childhood, I have always had a passion for sewing. When my girls were growing up I always made handmade gifts for them, their friends and their teachers. My business started as a hobby, selling a range of handmade creations such as cushions, soft furnishings and accessories made from fabric at local craft fairs around the Ballymena area. This is where the Penny & Rose brand origniated. The name Penny & Rose is inspired by two of my daughters' middle names (remember I have three daughters...oh dear!).
I am the maker of the original Ballymena Bear which was made for local advertising of my hometown, Ballymena in 2015. The franchise created a demand for Penny & Rose bears, allowing me to specialise in Memory Bears using loved ones' precious clothing. The pattern I used to make the Memory Bears is the same original pattern I created for the Ballymena Bear.
Bears have always been my favourite thing to make and I am delighted that I have found a way to turn this passion into a small business. I enjoy my work immensely and feel very fortunate to be enjoying my sewing hobby every day in a way which brings joy to others.
